Claim1
My issue is a social problem because it involves society. The media is what influences the ideal self image of the person and society falls into believing those norms. According to Philosophy of Looking Glass Self- a theory of Socialization,2008: “The individual becomes socialized by learning the rules and practices of social groups.” This shows that one becomes what we see others doing for example get influenced to be perfect because media shows perfect bodies. |
Claim2
My issue is cultural as well because in some cases when someone has a “good’ body in the family you will get judged if you do not have that body as well. If you have older family that has worked years to build up that big chest and arms with the six pack, one will want to look like him because it looks like one of the pictures from he magazines. Family will judge who ever goes out the norms and follow its own. |
Claim3
My issue i believe is political as well. I think my issue is political because the government should have a role in this. I believe that the government should ban media to focus only on skinny well built bodies and have focus on being human. I say being human because we are all the same regardless of anything else. The government should step in because it has been getting to the point of suicides due to bullying or just being unhappy with ones body. |
